Professor Dr. Sven N. Reske
Director of the Nuclear Medicine Clinic, University of Ulm

Overall research programme:
The research focus is the development of PET- and PET/CT-based molecular imaging techniques and targeted internal radiotherapy. Our molecular imaging approaches include development of small molecules as radioligands for intracellular protein targeting, radiolabelled substrates for measuring substrate flux through major metabolic pathways upregulated in malignant tumours and monoclonal antibodies or peptides for addressing cell membrane bound epitopes in malignant tumours or relevant target tissues. Basic research is focussed on the analysis of apoptotic signalling, DNA damage and repair induced by radioisotopic irradiation or radiochemotherapy in order to work out rational approaches for efficient eradication of tumours.

Role in the Integrated Project:

Major scientific contributor to WP 6 responsible for PET-based molecular imaging approaches, both in transgenic mouse models for validation purposes and in humans.
